After our pals TELETHON stopped in Asheville during their tour and played two shows with us (click here to see us perform at the second show), I decided to make a music video for one of their songs of their new 7″ People Eat Humans, Or Humans The Human Animal. I chose “Get A Hold On, Me” and for the video I looped and colored some footage of my friends (and bandmates) walking the Coney Island boardwalk on a particularly hazy day. Check it out. The song, by the way, is an amazing low-key psychedelic ditty involving some time-looping of it’s on, thematically at least.

I’m in love with Das Racist. They’re like Cool Kids on crack. Or on a shit load of soda and candy. These guys drop nerdy cultural references in a laid-back rap drawl over insane beats like nobodies business. And building a song around a sample from (the sample) from A Tribe Called Quest’s and Leaders Of The New School’s seminal early-90s hip hop classic “Scenario“? Genius. There’s similarities between the two music videos as well. Also, peep the line in the chorus “What can brown do for you?” That’s the UPS slogan you’re hearing! Love it. You can download both of their mixtapes (I say they’re legit albums) for free here and here. And hit up their website to play the video game in the music video.

April Fool’s: Panda Bear and Jay-Z Duet!

Dudes. Ok. So. Noah Lennox, aka Panda Bear from indie overlords Animal Collective, has been lending his vocals to a lot of performers lately. There’s been Taken By Trees, Atlas Sound, and most recently Pantha du Prince. Well, now you can official add Jay-Z to that list. The reverb-washed crooner was approached after a Brooklyn concert by the once reigning king of hip hop about collaborating. Lennox told the CrookedSine blog: “I’ve always loved hip hop and early 90s dance and R&B. The group [Animal Collective] has been incorporating elements of that for awhile into our sets and recorded material. I’ve especially been shifting that direction for my upcoming album. I’m a huge Jay-Z fan, and when he approached me after the show, saying he wanted to work together, I was floored.” You can read the rest of the interview here. As for me, I’m eagerly awaiting how many hipster heads will explode due to this news.

Eleven &the Falcons: The Belles Of London

Oy. New Falcons vid, mates. They at it again. This go around, &the Falcons joined up with Dead Serials to produce this video for the tantalizingly tantalizing song “The Belles Of London” of their alpha EP release, Psychic Toothpaste/Ocean Ghost 7″ (avail. 4 FREE from KillerPOP Records). If you love graveyards and geese, you’ll fuckin’ love this ghost punk dirge.

Eleven and the Falcons: Live @ Under Minerva, 9.11.09

Back on the 8th anniversary of 9/11, Eleven and the Falcons decided to celebrate the only way they knew how: tearin’ shit down! Check out this bootleg of their show at Under Minerva in Brooklyn, NYC for Melissa Diaz‘s Gallery Take Over show. The best part about it: the whole set was improvised! Those guys sure know how to topple a bldg, if you know what I mean.

Cubist/Tapist: Aakash Nihalani

I’ve been spottin’ this dude’s work all over Williamsburg. Finally found out who he was. I haven’t seen these ones, which are awesome. The ones I’ve seen are usually just one box (like that one on the subway sign, only they’re all on the sidewalk). This is the most complex one I’ve spotted thus far:

That’s all.
