Let my trip be yours.

In the wee hours of Monday morning, Jamuary 10th, a shit ton of snow rained (snowed?) down on Asheville, NC. This is what it looked like later that day. As you can tell, West Asheville looks much hipper in the snow than the other neighborhoods.

Drooped the ball on this one. Anywho, the latest incarnation of my band, Alligator Indian (formerly Eleven &the Falcons), have released their debut EP. It’s FREE to stream and download and happens to also be a Christmas album. But don’t worry, the songs aren’t strictly tied to the season and can be enjoyed all year round. Enjoy, and check us out on Tumblr and Twitter for all the latest news and updates.

HAPPY 2011 ASSHOLES! To start the year off right, my bros over in Yip-Yip have sent a New Year treat for us all. For the first time, they’re debuting full-song vocals which they use to make Jane’s Addiction sound cooler than they have any right to be.

Their cover of “Been Caught Stealing” gives you a taste of what’s to come in the Yip’s future. If you follow them on Twitter, you know they’e been hard at work on a new album which will feature vocals. Let’s all hope we see the release of it next year because this song has made my appetite so whettttt. If you couldn’t hear the Devo influence before, there’s no denying it now. And that’s definitely a good thing. 2011 could us some de-evolution.

That’s right. Adam Yauch aka MCA, will be directing a short film based around their 1987 “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)” video that will star starring Elijah Wood as Ad-Rock, Seth Rogen as Mike D, and Danny McBride playing MCA. The film will follow-up on the events of the video and will co-star Jack Black, Jon C. Riley, and Will Ferrell. It will of course, be awesome. It’s part of the recently announce Sundance list of short-films, so there should be more info and a trailer soon. You can head to AV Club for the rest of the list which includes a Tim and Eric film about two dudes havin’ a baby.

In a similar vein to the Oasis performance I posted yesterday, here’s Pavement performing “Cut Your Hair” live on The Tonight Show. I’ve heard Pavement are terrible live, but if it’s anything like this, I think their doing it on purpose. At least on this occasion they were. Not surprising that one of the original indie bands would try and take the piss out of a show and audience that had most likely never heard of them before.

What to say about this. Tom told us we should watch this last night. All he said was it was a bunch of celebrities lip-syncing “Let It Be” for a Norwegian TV show, and that we could expect to see people ranging from Glenn Close to the guy who play Bud (David Faustino) on Married With Children. What we ended up watching was so much more than that. Enjoy everyone from Judd Nelson to the actor who played young Forrest Gump, as they not only lip-sync, but play air guitar and sometimes just stand and stare at you on a blue screen beach.

According to the YouTube comments, this is a promo for a show called Golden Times where “heroes” from 80s and 90s culture are revisited.

I don’t know if he was mad he was performing “Champagne Supernova,” mad that he was singing at the VMAs, or was mad at something entirely different. As usual, Liam Gallagher has a temper, and we all benefit. Watch the entire thing and keep your eyes on him as he slurs his words, makes odd faces at the audience, and attempts to do everything with his mouth but sing.

[Note: Please ignore the first few seconds of the video. Whoever ripped it decided he needed to obnoxiously announce himself beforehand.]

Here’s the first one. Head to Comic Book Movie to see the rest.

SplashPage has an exclusive interview with actress and nerd-crush (myself included) Emma Stone (Zombieland) about her role as Gwen Stacy in Marc Webb’s ((500) Days Of Summer) upcoming Spider-Man reboot. Here’s an excerpt:

MTV: People are fiercely protective of “Spider-Man.” Do you ever worry about how you’re going to be received by fans?

STONE: I have such respect for the world of comic book fans. I’ve been to Comic-Con for “Zombieland,” and zombie fans are a very specific kind of fan base. And my absolute favorite kind of people in the world are people that are passionate about something. And if there’s protective of something they’re passionate about it, I can completely relate because there and things I’m passionate about and protective of. There’s a part of me that really wants to please people that love Spider-Man or Gwen Stacy and want her to be done justice. I hope they’ll give me license to interpret her my way. But that fan base, I’m one of them, so I completely understand why they would be judgmental of certain things. I try not to look [at stories on the Internet] because I do care and I don’t want to psych myself out. I kinda half to stay off the Internet. I’m not thick-skinned enough. I get too sensitive. I don’t want it to effect what I’m doing.

MTV: There seemed to be so much competition for the role of Gwen Stacy. Do you ever think, “Why me?” What do you think won you the part?

STONE: I ask myself that question every day. I have no f–king idea. It’s the most amazing idea, I can’t even tell you. I don’t think I ever will figure out how it happened. It’s been mind-blowing. I know things will eventually change, so I’m just trying to avoid thinking about it and just enjoy it while it’s happening. Ugh, what am I even saying? Don’t write any of that down!

Head to MTV’s SplashPage for the rest.

Shit. This looks better than the movie.
